Selecting Recess/Fabric/Blind Size

Please read the guide below and let us know which type of measurement you are providing:

Recess Size

If you want to fit your blind within the window recess as shown above, please provide us with Recess Size measurements.

To do this you will need to measure inside the window recess from wall to wall for the width and from ceiling to window sill for the drop.

You should take the measurements three times to make sure you get the most accurate sizes - at the top, at the middle and at the bottom for the width and at the top, the middle and the right for the drop.

The three sizes to give us are the smallest of the three measurements for both the width and the drop.

Make sure you do not make any reductions from these sizes yourself. We'll make your blinds slightly smaller on the width than the sizes you give us to make sure that it fits into the space with enough room for it to be installed easily and so the brackets don't scrape the walls, while still covering as much of the window as possible. The adjustment size will differ depending on the type of blind you choose and whether you are adding a cassette to cover the roll - our team will be happy to confirm the reduction amount for you if you advise which blind you are ordering.

Remember that the width of the fabric will always be slightly less than the total width of the blind to allow for the size of the mechanism and brackets - the difference is usually approximately 3.5cm.

Fabric Size or Blind Size

If you want to fit your blind outside of the window recess we recommend overlapping the window by at least 10cm on the width and 10cm on the drop.

You can then specify whether you want us to use these measurements as the Fabric Size or the Blind Size.

Fabric Size or Blind Size

Fabric Size

If you choose Fabric Size we will use your measurements as the size of the fabric part of the blind only. This means that the size of the brackets/mechanism/cassette will be in addition to the sizes you provide us - this is usually 3.5cm but our team will be happy to confirm the amount for you before ordering.

Blind Size

If you choose Blind Size we will use your measurements as the size of the total blind including the brackets and mechanism (and cassette if ordered). This means that the fabric part of the blind will be slightly smaller than the sizes you provide. The amount of difference varies depending on the type of blind ordered - it is usually 3.5cm but our team will be happy to confirm the amount for you before ordering.

Motor Position

Before ordering you should consider which side of the blind you would the motor to be installed.

From time to time you will need to recharge the battery pack that is integrated into your blind's motor. To do this you will need to plug in the mains charger, so it's good to consider where your blind will be in relation to the power sockets in the room and which side of the blind will be easier to access.

Helpful Hint - We find that it's a little easier to access the charger port when the motor is on the right hand side of the blind, but it can also be installed on the left if required.

Power Source

Integrated Motor with Built In Battery

This blind is supplied with an integrated motor that is fit within the blind tube so is invisible from the outside with no separate battery packs to install, giving a neat and clean finish.

Based on average use the built in battery will last around 6-12 months before it needs to be recharged. Simply plug the mains charger into the port at the end of the motor to charge the blind - you don't even need to take it down from the window.

We supply one charger free with every order, but additional chargers can be ordered here if you require more.

Our light filtering blind type is made from what is often termed as ‘dim out’ or 'daylight' fabric.

It gives complete privacy while still allowing some light to filter through, lending your room a fresh, bright feel.

A great choice for many rooms, this fabric is often used in living rooms, studies, kitchens and hallways or sometimes in bedrooms alongside curtains to provide a blackout effect.

Alternatively you can choose to have your blind made from our fully opaque blackout fabric.

This style still gives complete privacy but doesn’t let any light filter through the fabric, making it ideal for bedrooms.

Please note that due to the nature of a roller blind system, some light will leak through at the edges of your blackout blind where the fabric doesn’t cover the window.

If you’re placing your blind in a higher moisture area such as a bathroom or a kitchen then our waterproof PVC fabric is the best option.

This blackout fabric again offers complete privacy and doesn’t let any light filter through the fabric.

With its moisture resistant, wipe clean properties we highly recommend this fabric for use in bathrooms and kitchens.

Had a great experience with Order Blinds. I ordered 3 large blackout thermal blinds. All of them arrived much sooner than the expected dispatch. The quality of the blinds themselves was really good, they felt thick and premium. I did have an issue with one of the 3 blinds that had a small mark on the back. I got in touch with customer service and had a great experience there too. Domi was great and without issue they sent a replacement free of charge. Replacement was all good. Overall very happy customer and a great experience with customer service too. I will be coming back to Order Blinds for future purchases.

If your concern relates to the drop length, we do include an additional 30cm of fabric to ensure it can fully wrap around the roller tube, when the blind has been lowered the drop ordered. Great blinds made to order. Easy fit and looking fab

Replacement slats are lovely material and just the right opaqueness I required. The only snag was with the top hook inserts were a different size to my original blinds and I could not use my original tops as the new ones won’t come out. They are fixed in far too tightly so we were unable to remove them and had to snap a piece out of everyone of the 30 top fixings. So a warning to others when ordering replacements doublecheck your top fixings as I had no idea there were different ones.
